This book by Eileen Colucci is a must read! Once I started reading it, it was hard to put down. This story is about a girl from Long Island,Lorraine, who, in her college years, goes overseas to France to study abroad. There she meets a man from Morocco, Larbi, and falls in love with him. The book details not only their relationship, but also the culture shock this girl experienced when she decided to move to Morocco with him.

Those of us who went to school with Eileen will notice quite a few similarities between Lorraine’s school experiences and some of those which we experienced. Reading this book brought back a lot of memories of things which I had forgotten long ago. Rolling Hill is the name of the town where Lorraine grew up and will remind us of Commack. How many of our classmates attended Rolling Hills Elementary School? The name of the high school in the book was Verdant Field. Verdant means green. And how many of us attended Green Meadows Junior High? Hidden references which will cause many of us to have flashbacks are interspersed throughout the book. For me, they brought smiles to my face as I read the book.
