Are you currently still teaching, (or working) or are you retired?:Retired and Computer Consulting/Teacher

If you are retired, what year did you pack it all in?: August 29, 2002

If your working, what are you doing now?: Consultant

Any special Interests?: woodworking, computer teaching, photography, film

Where are you living now (state)?: California

What was your favorite memory of CHSS or of our Class?: CHHS was my first teaching assignment and it was the greatest place to start out as a teacher.  Kids were great. Teachers were all enthusiastic, and it was a very warm atmosphere.

In retrospect, looking over the years what would have done differently as a teacher, if it were possible?: As a new teacher, I was unsure as how to draw boundaries and still maintain the teacher-student relationship.  I think I would have been less anxious about it and been more vulnerable with students.

How has your perception of teaching changed since those early years?: I am glad I am not a new teacher now, in the 21st century.  Many students are very disrespectful and really try to push the envelope as to what they can get away with.

What student or students, would you like to know: “What’s happened to ___?: I would have to drag out the yearbook to refresh my memory…

Can you help us with the whereabouts of any other teachers?: Maybe with Nancy Hadland.  She knows about a few of them.

On a sadder note, (for the sake of accuracy) could you help with teachers that may be deceased? (Review “Teachers In Memory” List): No

Many of our classmates from CHSS have become very successful or famous (ie. Rosie O’ Donnell, Bob Costas, etc.) Are there any others that we may have missed that you are aware of for their achievements?
I would like to think all of the students became very successful….. success is not measured by fame :)

What would be the best way for a student in the class of 70, 71, 72 to contact you. If they wanted to keep in touch? emailshelia@csun.edu
