| Best memory of high school: Participating on the Fencing Team (I was Captain of the team during my Sr. year), and hanging out with Debbie Sutton, my next door neighbor. She is a super person, and wish her the best. I lost track of her after her mother passed away, and they moved out of Commack. | ||||||
| Best memory since high school: Back in late 1978, our submarine was cought in a hurricane off Guam, and we could not submerge. I spent 9 hours on the bridge as a junior officer taking solid ocean waves over my head. We had to be tied into the conning tower or be washed away. I actually had to hold my breath at times befor the boat would re-surface. When we got back into Guam after the storm passed, the Commodore of the submarine squadron awarded me the opportunity to give General Jimmy Doolittle a tour of our submarine. That was a tremendous honor, and I'll cherish the photo of the two of us forever. He was our most famous Ace during WWII. | ||||||
